Biography
Sumbat Der Kiureghian was born in 1912 in Julfa, Isfahan. He completed his education at Isfahan and studied painting under the supervision of some Armenian professors such as Hakop Vartanian and Yaqia Valijanian and benefited greatly from Sarkis Kachaturian. Then in 1949 he emigrated to England to study and became acquainted with the famous English watercolor artist William Russell Flint. In addition to watercolor paintings, in which he has a special mastery and fame, he also has oil color, gouache, pastels and chiaroscuro. He died in the United States in the summer of 1999.
