Biography:

Mohammadzaman or “Mohammad Zaman Ibn-e Haji Yusef Qomi” was an Iranian painter of the late Safavid period. He was the first Iranian painter to use oil color on canvas for painting and his followers used this technique, too. But the most important aspect of this artist’s works is his leadership in the “Europeanization” of painting. The main feature of this style is a combination of European painting techniques, including perspective, while using the features of ancient Iranian painting.
