Biography
Mehdi Shams-Ali was born in 1950 in Isfahan. Since he was eight he learned Zari-Bafi (gold weaving) from his father and with a lot of effort is creating valuable works in the Textile Museum of Isfahan (Sheikh al-Islam House) has kept the tradition and art of gold weaving alive. With more than half a century of experience and activity in this field, in 2016 was recognized as the expert of gold weaving and has more than 50 awards. He has trained numerous students of whom Mehri Abbaspour is one of the prominent artists of Zari-Bafi.
